This collection is broken into two different Series: Laurie Meeker’s academic portfolio and her Evergreen governance work.

The Evergreen governance series contains handwritten notes, meeting minutes, memos, and planning documents for the following [groups]: Planning Unit Committee DTF; Sexual Harassment DTF; Expressive Arts Planning Unit; Moving Image Governance Group; Air Quality Advisory Committee; Agenda Committee; Board of Trustees; Hiring Priorities DTF; Governance DTF; Joint Committee Reports; Faculty Meetings.
There is also some material from the U.F.E Collective Bargaining Agreements, as well as material related to supporting the Student Services Support Staff Union.

Biographical / Historical
Laurie Meeker began teaching at The Evergreen State College in the fall of 1989. She received her BA from Southern Illinois University in 1980 after dual-majoring in Film Production and Still Photography. She received her MFA from the University of British Columbia in 1985 in Film Production. Laurie Meeker began her career at Evergreen by teaching as an adjunct faculty member on the Evergreen – Vancouver campus from 1986 - 1987. Meeker’s expertise at Evergreen included media theory, film and video production, and she is a member of the Media Arts and Studies pathway.
Meeker co-teaches the Mediaworks program at Evergreen. Through her time at Evergreen she has taught classes such as Society, Social Change and the Expressive Arts with Sall Cloninger; Toward the 21st Century with Cloninger and Jeanne Hahn; Power, Politics and Media with Larry Mosqueda; The Spirit of Creativity: Women, Film, and Performance with Doranne Crable.
Meeker also created, or helped create, multiple films including: The River People (2002), Meeting Magdalene (1996), Special Lies: Hate Propaganda of the Radical Right (1995), Cascade Watershed (1988), Remember the Witches (1985), Night Without Fear (1984), Valentine’s Day (1981), Three Photographers (1980), Footbinding (1978). The River People was a film project created in collaboration between Meeker and a member of the Kahmiltpah band of Columbia River Indians, Lavina Washines and acted as an oral history of the present-day (at that time) life of the Kahmiltpah.
Along with her work as faculty member, Meeker participated in a variety of Disappearing Task Forces (DTFs) including the Planning Unit Committee, the Sexual Harassment DTF, Hiring Priorities DTF, and many others. She was also part of the United Faculty of Evergreen, the union representing Evergreen faculty.
