Scope and Contents
This records group consists of ethnography reports, field notes, interview indexes, transcriptions, and audiocassettes documenting the work completed in the Group Contract Mass Media and Popular Culture at The Evergreen State College led by Tom Foote and Sam Schrager from September 1988 to June 1989.

Historical Note
The Mass Media and Popular Culture program was a Group Contract sponsored by Tom Foote and Sam Schrager. This program focused on ethnography and the relationship between mass media and popular culture. It was a year long program spanning the 1988-1989 academic year: in fall the class focused on the interview and oral history, in winter the focus was moved to ethnographical studies, and in the spring the focus was on the presentation of materials.
