Historical
The Thurston County Nuclear Freeze Campaign began in 1981. The members included faculty from The Evergreen State College and local Thurston County citizens, including doctors from Group Health, concerned with stopping the nuclear arms race. Their primary goal was to have Proposition 1 - Nuclear Weapons Freeze, added to the election ballot for the November 1984 election. They worked on this goal from 1981 - 1984 and were successful in creating enough support to have the proposition added to the election ballot for 1984. The entire collection contains materials from 1981-1986 because of the periodicals the members included.
