Biographical / Historical
Thomas Foote taught at The Evergreen State College from 1972-2005. He received his BA in Journalism at the University of Tulsa. He served in the United States Navy from February 1962-June 1965. After release from active duty, Thomas attended the Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon State College) to complete his Master's Degree in Education with a Humanities major in 1967. A year later, he began his doctoral study with Oregon State University. In 1970, he earned his PH.D in education with minors in literature and anthropology. Thomas' focus at The Evergreen State College was teaching in the programs of Mass Communication and Social Reality; Mass Media, Popular Culture, and Folklore; Celebration, Myth Ritual and Culture; Society, Social Change and Expressive Arts; Cultural Codes; and Literary Journalism.
